afri-speak.com is a marketing site for an upcoming iOS app. By entering your email, you're asking to be told when it launches. Joining the waitlist isn't a contract, a purchase, or a guarantee that you'll get access on day one.

Afri-Speak is a work in progress. Features described on this site may change before launch, and the final product may differ from the previews shown. We'll do our best to communicate honestly about what's in and what's out.

Don't submit fake or other people's emails to the waitlist. Don't try to break the site. We reserve the right to remove any address that looks abusive.

The Afri-Speak app will include features that use an AI model to explain or expand on a Shona word you're learning. When that happens, only the word or short phrase the feature is about is sent to the model — no personal details, no chat history, no contact info. Output is informational, generated by software, and should not be taken as final or authoritative Shona. We try to keep quality high; native speakers know better than any model, and disagreement with what the model says is fair feedback we want to hear.

You can turn AI features off in the app. The rest of Afri-Speak — daily games, vocab cards, progress — works without them.

The site is provided as is. We don't warrant that it will be available 100% of the time, or that the email you submit will reach our records. We try, and we'll fix things when they break.

The Afri-Speak name, wordmark, and the words and visuals on this site belong to us. The Shona language and the proverbs quoted on this site belong to their speakers and their tradition. We try to use them with respect.

Afri-Speak is built and run from Canada. If there's ever a dispute or concern about anything on this site, we'd much rather sort it out over email first.

We'll update this page if anything material changes. The date at the top is the version that applies.
